Tapo P110 no longer monitors energy usage after firmware updated
Tapo P110 no longer monitors energy usage after firmware updated
Hi, I have had my tapo p110 working for about 6 months. A couple of days ago I updated the firmware to the latest firmware, since then the energy usage values are no longer displayed in the app, just the number of hours in use. Tapping the number does
not show a graph either.... I am out of ideas?
I tried deleting and re-adding the smartplug to the app but no changes at all.
help?

The problem was on my iPhone, and I have fixed it already. At some point there was an app update on the iPhone which was required, there was no prompt or advisory that the new firmware requires an app update. I only updated the iPhone app when I found that my already updated android tablet was working correctly.

@Lexeus Hi. Same issue here. Factory reset didn't help. Unbelieveable how firmware can be released these days without (probably) proper testing....?

Thank you for your feedback with the New Energy Monitoring 2.0 New Energy Monitoring 2.0
- Please also confirm your Tapo APP is up-to-date to enjoy the new Energy Monitoring feature, it is possible that you are using the previous APP.
May I know the model of your phone and its Andriod or IOS version?

hi had a chat this pm regarding this issue with TP support. I updated to latest version of iPad app - 2.10.6. Firmware on my P110s are 1.1.2 build 220930 rel.144500 and also removed a plug and reconfigured but still getting erratic data. Even deleted app and reinstalled it. Example status Today 0.249kWh / Past 30 days 4.49kWh / current <1w. The latter is correct as plug off now. When I show more under energy usage Day there are readings from Oct 24 05pm to12am for less than 0.01kWh though plug was on from 08:00 am to 17:00. Month shows 0.245kWh for today which is close enough though there is already data for Oct 28th / 29th and 30th? Year shows Sep 2.818kWh and Oct 3.413kWh. Moving to power tab then getting an accurate usage at 29w starting at 08:00 until 17:00. Past 7 days only have data for 21 Oct at 18:00 at 2w though plug active for more than 7 days. On this plug I can also go into the calendar function but only shows since 20th though that maybe when firmware updated. My other 4 plugs have very similar experiences across the data but the other 4 have the calendar icon greyed out.
any assistance would be appreciated :)

@MW_TP_user My original post was just complete lack of energy data, but you are correct to highlight that even with the new app release that provides the power monitoring data there are serious issues with the recent update.
I immediately noticed that the app was providing incorrect total consumption data for days and months.
Additionally the dates are incorrect for the recorded data, with information for the future being provided....
My instinct tells me that the programming has been done separately for the energy monitoring and the aggregation of historical data.... the time part of the timestamp I think is correct for the power consumption, but my hunch is that the historical data starts immediately from the reset of the app and continues to inffinity, but the display is assuming that todays date is the end and it takes 24hours of data and counts backwards, it is throwing off all the data. In my case it is 1am October 25th, so it is reporting the 14 hours of data I have as though it is all from October 25th.
on the positive side the real-time energy monitoring is much better, and the 30day total looks to be correct so far. I am going to wait until it had a couple of days of data before spending more time on it. If that doesn't fix it it it I am going to reset the app data at exactly 00:00 to make sure the historical data is only complete 24hours periods....
EDIT: the kWh price is nice to see but it refused to let me edit the original number I entered, so now I am stuck with an incorrect value.... £2 per kWh !!!!

Please bring back the good old Tapo 110. This step forward is a giant step back. I hope you didn't pay anyone for this product.

@Lexeus support contacted me to download the beta which includes diagnostics and application logs. I've used that to report this through so hopefully we may get an update soon...
