Model: Tapo L530E
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1,10 Build 230721 Rel. 224802

Hiya!

Have a strange issue with one of my L530E bulbs. Tapo app says it can only be controlled locally and can't add it to Alexa

So far I've tried the following:

- reset problematic bulb to factory settings

- re-added in Tapo

- reinstall Tapo and Alexa apps (Android, if that makes a difference, two different phones)

- NOTE! One phone shows the bulb working as intended in Tapo app, second as only locally controllable

- disable and enable Tapo skill in Alexa

- reset said bulb to factory settings and re-pairing in Tapo app

- firmware is up to date (apparently)

- rebooted my router (was already using Google DNS)

Got a few other L530Es and Bs which can be removed and re-added without any issues. Any ideas peeps?

It definitely was that eero 6 router. Bought Archer AX12, copied wireless details on it, unplugged eero and ta-da everything worked fine after devices switched over to it

eero 6 is simply a bad router

Update

Its the router. My old one failed on Monday, had Eero 6 as a spare. Root cause is the shining lack of quality that is Eero, home automation is completely useless with it so ordered a real router which should arrive today

Tapo devices won't be able to connect to third-party services when they lack remote control capability.

If other users are encountering the same issue, here are some troubleshooting tips for resolving the remote control failure problem with Tapo smart devices:

1. Check your router for any special settings that might be blocking internet access for the smart devices. To determine if the router or its settings are causing the issue, you can test by connecting your device to an alternative network, such as a guest network or, preferably, a mobile hotspot, for comparison.

2. Update the firmware of your Tapo device.

3. Make sure your Tapo App is up to date from the App Store or Google Play.

4. Consider changing your router's DNS settings to the following:
   - Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
   - Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4
