Our company purchased 7 TAPO cameras and the full Care subscription. We run a dog hotel, and it is imperative to be able to review EASILY what has changed on past videos. There are literally hundreds of videos a day.  It used to be easy to review "what has changed" in the app playback section on the OLD version of the app. But the new app has a HORRIBLE UI. Instead of a grid of past videos, with large size thumbnails, now theres a stupid list with TINY thumbnails on one side, and 80% of the screen is BLANK SPACE!!!!

 

The tiny thumbnails make it impossible to see actual details of the video contained. PLEASE RETURN the old grid with large thumbnails to easily be able to scroll through oast videos. It is now IMPOSSIBLE to visually search.  This is absolutely bricked the system for us, and we will cancel the subscription and return all the cameras if there is no solution quickly offered. Complete bait and switch.

Hi,
Can you share a picture of the problem you report with us? 

What's the model number and OS version of your phone? What's the new Tapo app version installed on your phone?

If you go to the Cameras tab>Activity Center page on the Tapo app, can you see the cloud video clips properly?

  @Solla-topee  In the below picture, looking at the Tapo Care videos, from the PREVIOUS version of the TAPO app on Ipad (the same on iphone), you can see the preview thumbnails are very large, TWO per line, and covering the entire screen.

 

This made it very easy to see what changed from each recording on the screen thanks to the thumbnails. it was very smart design.

 

 

 

 

 

Now Below, here is the NEW version, 3.0.508.  You can see that the thimnails are now VERY SMALL, and only ONE per line. It also has so much WASTED white space. The thumbnails are impossible to see detail on ipad... and on iphone, they are a joke. 

 

Please return the old way to see the BIG thumbnails of each video recording!!

There is a Video Summary feature on the Playback page, and you can use this feature to compile your video clips into a short video that summarizes what happened throughout the day. Please check if this feature can help you in the new app.

I also have problems with playback on all 3 cameras since about 5 days ago. Was fine before then suddenly No Playback, the video screens sometimes become bright white making it almost impossible to see anything in the room. Cameras are used to keep an eye on elderly relative suffering with dementia and cannot see him either.

Your problem is different from the original one, and it's suggested to start a new thread with the below information for further analysis.
1. The detailed problem description.
2. The version of the Tapo app.
3. The picture of the problematic video screens.

  @Solla-topee The Video Summary isn't of any use to us. We aren't looking for a short video summarizing the day. We need to monitor the safety and health of our clients, and to review any medical emergencies or incidents that require special attention. This means we need to quickly scan the thumbnails of events, and efficiently find events that happened.

Our cameras produce new recordings every 3-4 minutes thorughout the day, so it is literally dozens of videos we need to review. Please don't think your clients are only with a camera in the back yard to watch for the chance of a burglar coming by in rare ocassions. Our use case involves 8 cameras with dozens of videos each per hour. A sumary video is of no help.

 

Please act on this quickly. The TAPO CARE system is useless to us since the update, and we are already looking for alternative companies that produce a more logical way to browse the recordings. If you want to keep our subscription, please RETURN the feature that you originally offered. This isn't a new feature request. This is a deman to offer what you originally sold us.

If you don't mind using the old Tapo app version on your device that is able to view large preview thumbnails, please let me know and I can send the link to you to download the old Tapo app version.
At the same time, I'll inform the related team to evaluate and improve the feature on the new Tapo app as soon as possible.
