Model: KP125
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.6

I have KP 125 on the way to family, I am out of the country and want to be able to power my PC, it's set in the BIOS to power-on automatically.

I'll have my family plug in and install the Kasa app on their phone, login as me and I should see the plug?

Tapo vs Kasa? Did I buy the right one? Happy if it just works on the app, not really sure of the difference in the plugs. No Apple devices, PCs and Asus Wifi 6  router.

I can access my TP-Link router here in the cloud on the Tether app.

Once the Kasa smart plug is set up and connects to the internet successfully, it can be controlled remotely with the App when using the same TP-Link account.

Tapo and Kasa are both smart home brands under TP-Link, tailored to different countries or regions, and they may have slightly different product lines. Each brand has its own independent app. However, products of the same type generally share similar basic functions, such as remote management and scheduling support for smart plugs. Nevertheless, there may be differences in performance and specifications among different models. You can explore the product details page to learn more and choose the models (product features) that interest you.

Furthermore, the latest Tapo App now supports Kasa. So, if you plan to add Tapo devices like smart sensors or robot vacuums in the future, the Kasa KP125 can now be managed and used within the Tapo App. General questions about linking Kasa devices to Tapo App

The Kasa smart plug FAQ is empty, only Tapo has content. So when he plugs the KP125 in, he uses the Kasa app to connect it to the local wi-fi? or does he use his phone Wi-Fi or Bluetooth for the initial connection? I have the Kasa app on my phone.

Using a UPS on the PC should not make any difference?

Edit: got it working, he had to connect the Kasa plug to the Wifi on his phone, and he also had to change his Android phone to the 2.4ghz network. never found a real tutorial, luckily my brother-in-law is tech savvy.

It did a firmware update, now listed as 1.0.6

In fact, the Quick Installation Guide that comes with the product box will have prompts for you to refer to the installation instructions within the app, there's no need to worry about it in advance, and when you get into the configuration operation, there will be detailed instructions for each step.

If you want to know how to configure the installation in advance, you can also refer to the FAQ provided on the TP-Link official website. How to set up my TP-Link Smart Plug Switch via Kasa
