Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.19

I have a brand new D230S1 doorbell.  

 

When I ring the doorbell it calls my phone, makes the chimes etc. but I can not have a two-way conversation.  

 

I can broadcast from my phone to the doorbell (although it is not great quality), BUT the doorbell can not speak to me. This problem persists whether the doorbell initiates the call, or whether I initiate it from my phone using the Tapo App. 

 

I have raised doorbell mic and speaker volumes to maximum.   

I have the latest firmware.

I have granted permissions on my phone. 

 

Any ideas gratefully appreciated.

Make sure your phone is not in silence mode. Do you hear sound when watching the live stream? Test this on another phone or tablet, see if there is the same problem.

 

Make sure the Tapo app is updated. Try to delete then reinstall the app.

 

You can also try to reset the doorbell: press and hold the SYNC/RESET button for about 5s, the status led will start blinking red quickly.

Make sure your phone is not in silence mode. Do you hear sound when watching the live stream? Test this on another phone or tablet, see if there is the same problem.

Thanks so much.  My phone wasn't on silent mode, but the particular volume channel the doorbell uses was muted.  Working now.

  @Wayne-TP It was the media channel (NOT the call or ring volume).  

Normally the phone adjusts the volume of the active channel e.g. if watching something on youtube, but in this case it did not seem to recognise sounds was coming through and I had to manually select the media channel.
