Model : TL-WR700N

Hardware Version : 1.0

Firmware Version : any

ISP : Comcast

Desktop PC has wired ethernet.

I am using a tplink TL-WR700N in client adapter mode, connected to the desktop PC wired ethernet port.

My only operating system on the desktop PC is Linux, currently Kubuntu 14.04. 14.04 is not going to be changed to newer release because a newer release doesn't install.

I discovered the IPv6 matter by having issues with Ubuntu repositories that are IPv6. My IPv6 access to their server will time out. The servers are ok if I force IPv4 connections.

To verify the matter, http://test-ipv6.com/ says I have no IPv6 connectivity in the configuration I stated above. The test shows that all IPv6 tests time out. My house wifi is ok, because Android cellphone and Chromebook all test fine, and my ISP verified that my hardware is configured correctly.

On the desktop PC, when I disconnect the TL-WR700N, and instead I use a Belkin USB wifi device, http://test-ipv6.com/ says I'm good for IPv6, so some of my desktop system is ok.

I'm not certain where to reconfigure to gain IPv6 connectivity, so I'm dividing the problem into two parts: either the wired ethernet isn't configured correctly, or the TL-WR700N is not configured correctly.

Investigating the client mode administration pages for the TL-WR700N, I do not see any configurations for IPv6, so this is my question:

Is the TL-WR700N limiting my connectivity to IPv6?

Naturally, if the TL-WR700N isn't limiting me, I will investigate my desktop PC settings.

Well, the best test was to simply replace the TL-WR700N with a Netgear WNCE3001, and with all else being unchanged, I now pass the http://test-ipv6.com/ with the Netgear but fail all IPv6 tests with the TP-Link TL-WR700N.

Wondering why, but there it is.

WR700N is not IPv6 capable?

An official response would be useful here, because I've tried 3 firmware versions, and I'm not getting past IPv6 tests.

Requesting firmware

I appreciate that someone stepped up and gave me a URL directing me to something they saw in the FAQ section, but as a common user, I cannot load that FAQ.

I had already tried searching the FAQs, before coming to post in this forum, but links fail and remain uncorrected.

I understand this isn't a pleasant matter, but then again, there are online merchants still selling this TL-WR700N as new at https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B006DEBYWU/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1506083989&sr=8-1&keywords=TL-WR700N, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704121, and thus more customers like myself will have the same IPv6 issue I report in this thread.

Also, please understand that I personally researched DD-WRT and Open-WRT, these unofficial firmware providers cannot support TL-WR700N due to the design limitations of TL-WR700N.

Can a tp-link firmware update be created for TL-WR700N, so it will work properly on IPv6?
