Deco M9 and VPN
I am looking to set up the Deco M9 mesh wifi system in my home, and want to use a dedicated ip with it. Can the units be flashed with ddwrt firmware to use the openvpn protocol? If not, is there another way to set up the M9 to use a vpn? Thank you.

@Carl One year later, and still no OpenVPN?

No new updates on the plans for adding VPN Server. I have reached out to the design team to see if there is an update. I will state this though. We almost never get updates on planned features and their roll out. Support basically finds out about a new feature when the firmware launches. Any new features added to existing products going forward will be annouced when we hear about them on the community in the form of a Offiical Annoucment. I suggest checking back regularly in that thread section to see if one has been made or checking the website TP-Link.com and under the specific products downloads/support page to see if new firmware has been released and what is new in it.

Hi Everyone.
I have an update for you: We do still have plans for the VPN server to be added to the Deco Platform. This update will start with the Deco M5 however. The update is planned but not guaranteed on update 1.6.0 which will be at the end of the year to the begining of next year.

Actually we are. The Deco M5, because it was the frist Mesh model it is the most addpoted one as well. While the Deco M9 is top of line AC model, it is not as widely adopted as the M5. I will say this, we have no current plans of EOL for either device and it should be comming to the Deco M9 as well

Maybe development can go towards WireGuard iso OpenVPN.

Seems a lot faster to use.

@Carl Hi Carl, this is great news. I had given up on TP-link to provide vpn functionality, so added another router to my network to do this. I will still be happy to disconnet that once we have this functionality.
