Model: Archer C7
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 180114

I just noticed that there was an update (180114) for my Archer C7 v2 router. After updating, I'm no longer able to connect to my usb hdd via SMB. In the patch notes I saw that SMBv2 is now supported, but I'm not sure how I should now be connecting to my USB Hdd on my Mac. Previously I've been connecting via "smb://ip address/share folder/" but on the latest firmware when I try to connect it refuses to accept my password. I downgraded back to 170525 and I can access the drive with no issues.

This FAQ provided by TP-Link is what I used to set up the USB access.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@ongo

after some research it appears that SMBv2 does not play well with MAC OS.  I did find a posting on Apple's thread that is a discussion on this.  the last post mentions an App a user downloaded and set up and it appears to have worked for them.  I would say it might be something you could try.  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8555715  Because MS ended support for SMBv1 firmware updates were sent to SMBv2 as the standard now.

@Carl

Unfortunately that didn't fix my issue.

I did end up solving the problem by creating a new "nsmb.conf" file using the terminal command "echo "[default]" >> /etc/nsmb.conf". Now I'm no longer having any issues accessing my USB storage via SMB.

Thanks
