On the AX6000, does the USB access allow writing to the drive?

Has anybody been able to get it to work?

 

Using a Mac

 

* I can read the file without problem, but no matter how I connect on a Mac (SMB, ftp, network share), it does not allow writing. I get a permissions error from the Mac file explorer.

 

* It's a FAT32 drive. Toshiba 1 TB.

 

* The web interface seems to be missing some of the features for previous versions 

 

* There is the read-write admin account listed, 

 

* The folders do not have "enable write access" as shown in  https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1527/ in section 8

 

 

* Similarly the time machine function does not work, despite the dedicated section in the settings for it.

 

 

Any ideas on how to fix this? How can a flagship device not have this working? I'm very confused :(

Correction- its a FAT drive, not FAT32.

@treeoctopus Hmmm, and I was able to get a on old FAT 4gb usb thumbdrive to write properly.

 

Any idea what I could change on the external Hard Disk?

FAT(16) would be a very old file system for a 1 TB drive. Try formatting it as EXFAT or even NTFS.

For time machine it must be formatted in one of the MAC formats. None of the FATs will work. Can you see the drive in Finder?
