Login to a router with a default address of 192.168.15.15?

Model: TL-WR841N
Hardware Version: V13
Firmware Version:

I resently purchased this router on the internet and found that its default IP address is 192.168.15.15. The admin admin user password will not work. I have tried the 30 30 30 rest and it always ges back to the 192.168.15.15 address. Does anyone know what the default password is for the address? The intresting part is that I bought this router on Ebay but I also bought another one from Amazon and it had the same issue. I complained to Amazon and they sent me another one which has the normal 192.168.0.1 with the default login of admin admin. Go figure!!!! Can anyone help with this?

Thanks

Do a factory reset generally holding the reset button for 15 sec or so. See the user manual for more info (also see the FAQ)... https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/tl-wr841n/

@ArcherC8

I have reset this router at least a dozen times and it re-sets to 192.168.15.15

I have tried many passwords with no results. I know it is resting because the sequence of the lights seems too be correct. There is a logo on the top of the router that reads "PRAVITE NETWORK Property of CPI Security with a phone number. I called the number and was told to contact TP-Link. If the router is resetting to default there must be a default password.

I am sure you tried admin/admin default for that router and other common ones for other routers. Sounds like CSI Security has changed the firmware. Return it if you can. If no return option, maybe someone else here will be able help. I would think you will need to try reloading firmware from TP Link for your model and version. There are instructions on the internet for doing that for bricked routers. I have not used any of those procedures. Others have reported mixed success.

@ArcherC8 Thanks for the advice. I have reached out to th eBay seller and he has refunded me the money I paid for it. Honest seller! He didn't want me to ship it back so I still have the router. I will try to update the firmware but not sure how to do that without access to the set-up page. I guess at this point it becomes a challenge more than anything else. I will see if I am smart enough to figure this out. If you have any advice how to change the firmware without access to the set-up page it would be appreacitted, Thanks

Hope your next router is better. Nice to have a little challenge. You can google "tp link brick recovery" or use the search bar in this forum to get different things to try. Like I said before the results are mixed. You can try https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/81462. If you get it to work, let us know what you did.

@NED1948

When buying from third party sellers you can come across cases where the router was uploaded with non official firmware. That is likely why the default IP was 15.15, but glad the seller worked with you. Other customers are not so lucky.
