M9 Plus + X90/X96, how is the backhaul looks like?
Hi there,
My house have currently 3 units of M9 Plus and I'm thinking to get additional 2 units of X90/X96 when I have the chance.
Before getting it, I have a few questions.
1. Is X90/X96 compatible with the current M9 Plus?
2. If it's possible, how will the backhaul looks like when I combine X90/X96 and M9 Plus?
Regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,
Yes all Decos are compatible with each other. Just simply but the highest end one as the base unit. As for how the Deco M9 will work with the Deco X90/X96 it really depends on the backhaul in use. All 3 units have a dedicated backhaul. The Deco M9 and X90 both use a 5GHz one and the X96 uses a 6GHz band for their wireless backhaul. All 3 versions have gigabit ports and are capable of using Ethernet as a backhaul as well.
Hopefully that answers you question but let us know if you need more details.

@Carl thanks for your reply.
Do you mean if I'm using X96 as main unit, the main backhaul when satelite is
1. X96 is 6Ghz?
2. X90 is 5Ghz?
3. M9 plus is 5Ghz?
Basically this is what I'm trying to achieve is in the graph below.
I want my notebook to have 1Gbps from my internet and also NAS.

Nick thanks for the diagram it helps a lot. 1st unless your modem is a gateway (modem/router) you will want to swap the Gig Switch with the Base Deco unit (X90/X96 1). For the backhaul Deco M9s and Deco X90 will communitcate with each other on a Dedicated 5Ghz band. Deco X96 will communicate with each other over a Dedicated 6 GHz band. Deco M9/X90 will communicate with the Deco X96 over the usable 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, as their dedicated bands are different.
As a mesh all units will also create a link to each other, then choose the best available path to the base to transmit their data.

Right now the best estimate is early to mid January. However if you have a Costco membership look at the Deco X5700 its basically the vendor exclusive Deco X90

The Deco X96 is actually a cancelled project now. We do have two WiFi 6E Decos planned for launch early and mid Q1 2022 though. Deco XE5300 and Deco XE200.

You know they didn't actually say. A lot of times products shown at CES are still in development and occasionally those products are re-evaluated and plans change. With the X96 I beleive that is what happen.

@Carl As you description, the X96/X90 should be wired backhaul with the M9 plus for the least bottleneck network speed. Am I correct ?
