My Amazon Kindle Fire 8.9 HDX does not stay connected when in sleep mode with this newest firmware, which was recently released.  Sometimes when I am using it just disconnects.  Sometimes after a few minutes it disconnects.  I tried forgetting the connection, but that didn't  help.  Other times it will go for quite a few hours without any issues until I am finished using it.  I tried both 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz.    The Kindle is about six feet from the router.

 

2.4 ghz is b/g/n mixed.

Any ideas?

Does your smartphone experience the same thing?

 

Do you also have a laptop or computer that constantly disconnect?

@Tony Actually, phones, my second newer Kindle , two Ring devices  , garage door opener, eufy power plugs, Roku stick, HP and Lenovo laptop are ok.  Most are on 2.4 ghz, some of them are on 5 ghz (one laptop, Kindles, Roku).

Actually my Emeron Sensi thermostat is having issues too.

 

Prior to upgrading, the Kindle and thermostat were pretty darn good about not disconnecting.

For the 2.4GHz band, try modifying the wireless channel and width to see if you get a better connection. Log in to the router, go to Advanced > Wireless > Wireless Settings. Set the channel width to 20 MHz, and channel to 11, and select save. Test the connection to see if it improves, if you still have the same symptoms, change the width to 40 MHz and leave the channel at 11.
