Model: Archer T3U
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.8
Catching WiFi signal off tp-link EAP245 WAP. Receiving on a 4.5 year-old Dell XPS 8900 Desktop. The OEM WiFi card was 2.4 so switched to tp-link Archer T3U ( AC1300 Mini Wireless MU-MIMO USB Adapter).

I was getting about 80 Mps off OEM 2.4 card. On 5 GHz, the Archer got me 280 Mps on the Windows driver. Installed the tp-link driver and went to 305 Mps. Not bad, but when I put my one-year old Lenovo laptop with Intel AC9560 WiFi next to it, it rings up 480 Mps. If connect Ethernet directly to router, can get about 500 Mps. In my previous house, I had 985 Mps with Ethernet connection on this PC. Unfortunately, stuck with WiFi in current situation.

So, seems I'm short about 180 Mps.

Current driver is: 1030.27.425.2018 (although still says Windows driver)  10/25/2018.  It is in a USB 3.0 port.

tp-link driver I downloaded says 11/09/2018 on web site. If I search for driver on Windows, it brings up "Uninstall tp-link Archer T3U driver."  So, even though driver dates don't seem to match, appears to be installed. I don't see where tp-link says what the driver number I downloaded is.  Not sure what's going on here. Thanks.

Have you tried installing the T3U on your Lenovo laptop, what speeds do you get on that? Mainly to see if speeds are consistent or different.

Tried it on Lenovo.  Won't work at all.  Tried Windows drivers first, then tp-link drivers.  On Lenovo, shows

TP-Link

2/12/2018

1030.22.202.2018

On Dell, after repeated tp-link driver installs, shows

Microsoft

10/25/2018

1030.27.425.2018

Why is Microsoft driver newer than tp-link driver?  Does driver matter between these two?

Probably chipset drivers made available to Microsoft different then what we have.

If the card doesn't even work on another computer then I would reach out to support if it is not the computer causing the slowdown.
