@remiles YES.  Return the router.  I went through two tp-link routers before I finally forked over the money for an ASUS RT-AX3000.  It works like a dream.

I'm shocked that Virtual Desktop users recommended the tp-link for Quest 2.  You should join the Virtual Desktop discord - they're awesome.

But yes, if you are able to return your router, do it.  Put the money toward a router without these issues.

Same issue... I posted a thread 3 weeks back but was deleted by them. Virtual Desktop stutter like one kind and the only way to resolve this is to disable OFDMA and wireless AX. but that defeat the purpose of having wireless AX as the first place. 

Oh man! Really bummed I ran across this thread. I have just joined ShadowPC in order to play VR on my Oculus Quest 2. Was checking to see if my ax1500 was up to the task of using Virtual Desktop ( and was pretty certain it was but wanted to see if there were certain settings that needed to be adjusted). After reading through this thread it appears that the issue is yet to be addressed. I guess I will have to only play hardwired for the time being because I have too many smart devices in the house that will only connect to the 2.4 wifi to have to turn it off all the time, and that is even if it helps at all according to some posts here. 

I guess it was good to know about this beforehand though. 

Just a quick update. Had another test with the R&D last night. Same drill, installed a custom firmware and did some command prompt configs.

Stutters continue, however are significantly less frequent. Still seeing up to 50ms spikes.

However, also seeing base network latency go as low as 2ms.

Running 5700XT ryzen 7, medium resolution settings in Virtual Desktop, medium settings in game (Saints&sinners) 100MBPS.

We've got another test next week.

You probably didn't read this entire thread, but I bought and returned two tp-link routers before giving up on them.

You're saying I should have paid the same price for a brand that screwed me twice, instead of getting the brand recommended by the Virtual Desktop Discord mods.

I'm gonna disagree, but I'm glad your router works well for you.

This will be the last report I add to this thread.

While it seemed for a while that there may be progress being made on the issue, it seems more difficult for them to fix than we had all hoped.

In the end, TP-Link hooked me up with a new AX5400(AX73), in exchange for my AX3000(AX50).

I can say positively that this new router does not share the same issues. Whatever the cause of these problems in the Ax 10 & Ax 50 models, (can't remember if there were mentions of problems with the Ax 20 models) the new AX73 does not have it. Significantly better streaming signal strength gives me the option to play at 140+MBPS, though that does increase latency upwards of 15ms or so, sometimes sneaking up to 17-18. Haven't seen 20 yet so far. I've settled on 120, and am seeing under 10ms latency.

To those who come to this thread in the future, perhaps @Carl will eventually make a future announcement that these routers have been fixed. Until then, it's safe to say, these specific models are not fit for use with Virtual Desktop virtual reality gaming.

Does anybody know what version 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 did (if they ever existed out in the wild)?
Have anybody tried 1.1.5 with Quest 2 and VD?
Is it wort the risk to update to 1.1.5?

My quest 2 is working fairly well with 1.1.2 with a low VD setting of 50 mbs but I would really like to bump it up to 100 mbs with out to much latency increase so I hope this update will improve things.
I’m not sure I can revert back to 1.1.2 if 1.1.5 is “bad” so I’m hoping that some else has tested it on a AX10 v1.0.

Yes as @Gmadu1993 stated I will make an official annoucment of updates as soon as I am provide with one.  I will note though that they may not give me a update regarding regions outside the US or my update may be provided some time after the firmware is released.  In the US new firmware is added typically every Friday afternoon.  Unless there is a holiday or PTO that is.  Also if you are linked to a TP-Link ID the OTA update may show available before that.  If anyone does see anything or have any questions please make sure I am Tagged.  I will not see your question or comment otherwise.
