Deco S4 Slow WiFi speed
Deco S4 Slow WiFi speed
Just installed the deco S4 (3-pack) system in my home. I also bought an extra individual S4 unit. My home internet speed is 300mbps however at the router I can only get about 180mbps. Im somewhat of an internet noob but is this normal speed or am i doing something wrong?
my goal is to get as close to 300mbps as possible

I have the same problem with the speed. If connected direct to the router via wireless I'm getting close to 500mbps but only hit about 95mbps via my S4
I also get the same slower speed all be it 120mbps if connected via my Cat5 cable directly to the master S4

Because you said connected to the router via wireless you get close 500Mbps I must assume you have another router in your network other the Deco. Having two router in a network cause what is called Double NAT. This can affect several aspects of connectivity. From issues with port forwarding to speed. This is because network data on the Deco has to be translated twice before getting out to the internet. Once through the Deco network and then Once through the main router's network. You can either remove the main router and have Deco act as your router if that main router is standalone or if its a gateway disable the router function, if possible, and have Deco act as the router. Or, you can disable the wireless on the main router and put Deco in AP mode. Both solutions will get rid of the Double NAT.
Start with that and let us know if there is any difference.

I know this is an old thread but wanted to let anybody know what i found.
I was seeing the same issues as everyone else, if connected to the provider wifi i was getting speeds around 420+ at times and then when i connected to the S4 it would not go past 100 when running speed test. I removed the patch cord that was connecting the S4 to the switch and then made my own out of Cat6 then reconnected and tested it again and now im at the same speeds as the provider Wireless.

Another thing to check is QOS. I have a 1.2Gb download speed which I get 750Mbps off the modem. When plugged into the Deco it dropped to 240Mbps. My QOS max speed was set at 300Mbps. I bumped that up to 1000Mbps and my wired speeds increased to 750Mbps. Wireless speeds hover around 250Mbps but I have a very congested frequency band so it's kind of expected.

I switched to a CAT 6 patch from the modem to the Deco as well and that fixed slow speed issues. I'm going to bump it up to a STP CAT 8 patch and see if that makes any difference.
