Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.1 Build 20201202 rel.76564(5553)

I have an Archer AX21. According to the app the hardware version is 1.20. I updated the firmware via the app. It says that it is up to date at 1.2.1 Build 20201202 rel.76564(5553). If I go to the TP website the Firmware available for AX21 1.20 is Archer AX21(US)_V1.2_201118 and for AX21 1.2 (no zero) the firmware is Archer AX21(US)_V1.2_201202 (which seems to correlate to the version my app has downloaded). So long story short, the app seems to have installed the firmware for 1.2 on my 1.20 router. 

 

Normally I'd say who cares if things are working, but I have an issue with write access on my attached USB hard drive (on a Catalina Mac) and I am wondering if that could be firmware related. Everything else as well as read access to the drive seems to work fine.

 

Any thoughts?

The router installed the correct firmware. Both file names refer to hardware v1.2 so the one with the latest build is what you got. Our global site only references v1.2 and v2 so our US site may be redundant.

Were you able to write to the drive prior to the firmware upgrade? If you connect the drive to a USB port on your Mac, can you read and write to it?

I did NOT try writing to the drive before updating the firmware, so I am not sure that this is indeed firmware related. It was just something suggested by TP-Link's online support. The AX21 router is a new addition. The drive was previously connected to an Airport Extreme and I was able to write to it at that point. And yes, if I connect the drive directly to my computer, I can write to it without any issues. Thanks.

Thanks for clarifying this, Tony. I thought that was the case. One of your online support people people suggested that I download and install the 201118 version instead of the 20201202 the app had installed to address my drive issue and it just didn't feel like the right approach. Glad I didn't.
