A few questions:
1. What router model do you have?
2. What is the hardware version?
3. Is the WAN light lit any color or completely off?
4. Who is your ISP?

Okay so the issue could be either the cable is not fully seated either to the modem's side or the routers side. The cable is bad. Or, one of the ports is bad. the easiest way to test this is to take a ethernet cable and connect it to two of the LAN(yellow ports) on the router. See if the lights for those two ports light up. If they do then the cable is good. Next test would be to take one end of the ethernet cable and plug it into the Router's WAN port (blue) and see if the two lights light. If they do then the cable and the WAN are good and the issue is on the modem. If the lights don't come one then the WAN port is bad.
