I have a main router on one side of the house and would like to use the TP secondary router in the back room as a wifi extender off the main router. Is this possible, if so, can someone provide detailed instructions on how to do so? Thanks.

Yes and its quite easy. this FAQ can walk you through using the WDS feature to turn the router into a Range Extender
