Model: Archer C59
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.0.1 Build 20170218 rel.79276

Router is set to WPA/WPA2-Personal(Recommended),  Version WPA2-PSK, Encryption AES.

Still getting the usual weaks security msgs from any Apple device connecting.

No firmware upgrade avail.

Professor Google shows mixed causes, some say it's the Tp-Link device, some say it's the Apple devices.

Suggestions welcome.

Assuming there's no option available on the C59 for WPA2 only (not mixed-mode WPA/WPA2), then your settings are correct.  You may need to force your Apple devices to "forget" (not just disconnect from) your C59 wifi network then reconnect in order for the security setting to be reset and the warning message to be removed.
