Model: Archer AX10
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.1 Build 20220401 Rel. 57404(4555)

I noticed if I use WPA3 on my AX10 with my Galaxy S21 5G or Tab S6 that on my S21 or Tab S6 apart from WiFi Man and my AX10 config page all the other WiFi apps I have report my network as 'open', 'un-protected', 'unencrypted' I just wondered why this might be? I switched back to WPA2-PSK AES for now.

  @Kevin_Z Thanks. Is it just that the other 3 apps report an 'open' network as they don't know what WPA3 looks like? But the network itself remains WPA3 encrypted?

Yes, that is what we assume. The network is secured with WPA3 encryption, but the software doesn't know it and displays it as open. We confirmed this with an AX router with other manufacturers, when it chooses WPA3-Personal, the Network Signal Info Pro also displays it as open.

Hello @myke52

Can I have the screenshot of the wireless security settings when you choose WPA3 on the AX10 (you can mask the SSID and password for security concerns), and a screenshot on your Galaxy S21 5G when it connects to that network?

When they connect to the WPA2-PSK AES network, are they displaying properly? Can I also know the Android version on both devices?

  @Kevin_Z  Hi Kevin, I attach screenshots as requested.

Android is v12 on both devices.

WPA2-PSK AES displays correctly.

@myke52

As per the screenshot you attached, you are using different software to check the network security, can I know what are they?

As per the last picture, Signal Mapper does show the network is secured with WPA3-SAE, which means the security settings on the AX10 do take effect. I assume the other software may not support WPA3 and that's why it displays 'open' or 'un-protected'.

WPA3 is quite new, and it is not widely implemented on all devices yet, some manufacturers or software owners may not support it and that might be the reason it displays as open. You could confirm this with the software provider also.
