Model: Deco XE5300
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.1.5 Build 20220429

Hello,

Is there a way to assign channel with the XE5300?  2.4ghz auto set its self to 40mhz wide on channel 9. This is not a best practive or recomended and it causing adjacent channel interference from my neighbors and i am not being a good wireless steward by not using one of the 3 non overlapping channel 1,6, or 11

Thanks,

Chris

  @Chris_Couch,

Our Deco Systems do not currently let the user actively select which channel the network uses to communicate. The nodes will optimize based on the networks that are visible in the area. To force the system to scan for new channels and determine the best connection. You can find the optimize now button in your Deco App to begin the process. Keep in mind that there are many variables and sources of interference that may cause the Deco to select a specific channel, even if it appears empty to you.

I was able to find this post on the global forums detailing why this can be difficult for mesh networks. https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/154561

  @Riley_S

Thank you for the link and explaination, I can understand not letting the user select channels for back haul but per the app all back haul is going over 6ghz not 2.4 or 5ghz so channel selection in the other bands shouldnt affect that.  The part i am really having trouble with and dont understand is that the basic deployment model for all 2.4ghz channels is to use 1,6,11(US based) and at 20mhz. This device goes against everything out there. I have a spectrum analysis tools at my home as part of my work. I can see the spectrum and current channel plan.

  @Chris_Couch

I totally agree with you. I cannot understand why TP-Link has determined not to permit the end-user to set the 2.4 GHz channel, as well as channel width.
