@Golding
I do believe SMB V1 is needed. Easy to tell. Open a CMD prompt and enter NEW VIEW...
Not all of SMB V1 is required and I think the Server part is where the Security flaw is?
Here is what I get:
=============
C:\>net view
Server Name Remark
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
\\HP7855 Samba 3.0.37
\\IRVXPS8940 Irv's XPS8940
\\Lxxxxx-XPS8500 Lxxxxx XPS8500
\\TP-SHARE samba server
The command completed successfully.
============
If it works, fine, if not you'll get an error.
It is actually the version of the Samba Server I recall. I had the same problem with Netgear as well... The f/w of the router was running SMB 1. I recall they moved to SMB 3 but not the Samba Server.
I can not put external links here, but there is an MS page about this, Google "SMBv1 is not installed by default in Windows 10 version" and you should find it, and it has a note:
----------------
Note
You should use this option only on shares that are required by a third-party application for legacy support if the vendor states that it is required.
----------------
I've got an AX55 and it is supposed to support SMB V2 from other posts here.
I never did try without SMB V1 though?
I'll remove V1 and see what happens I guess?
EDIT:
OK, turned it of, can't read it:
Seems SMB1 is required???
