New Arrival KS230Kit v2 3-Way Dimmer Updated Version
KS230Kit v2 - Updated Hardware Version
Simplified Installation and New Functionality - KS230 Kitv2 Product Page
TP-Link just launched the newest version of the KS230 3-Way Dimming Kit. This updated version is far more accessible to users and features a streamlined installation process that simplifies the connections and the overall setup.
The New KS230 Kit was also tested extensively in our official TP-Link Beta Program to ensure the best experience for our users at launch. Thank you to all the users who were invited to test the product ahead of launch and provided valuable feedback to our teams.
Separated Line and Load
The new version has separated the line into its own connection on the unit, making it much easier to understand where each wire goes. No more having to wire two wires to one connection.
Traveler Wire Order
The Second major change is that the Traveler Wires are no longer dependent on the order in which they are placed on the main unit. This means that each traveler is equal and can be placed onto either nut on the satellite switch.
LED Wiring Status Light
The last major change meant to help users through the installation process is the inclusion of a flashing red LED light when the wiring on the unit is not correct. Throughout the installation process, if you encounter a Red Flashing LED light, you will now immediately know that there is an issue with the wiring.
With the three of these combined, the team is hoping that the installation process can be quick and painless. If you have never wired a Smart Switch into your Home, the new version of the KS230Kit is a great way to learn how, as the team has put together a variety of resources to help with the installation process.

If you are ever unsure of the version, try and find an image or instruction on how the device is connected to your home's wiring. The V2 wiring diagram is slightly different and could help verify if a device is v1 or v2, and can be found here: KS230Kit v2 Wiring Setup and FAQs
The main differences are that on the satellite switch there is a separate wire provided for the Load, with NO two wires going to one screw. There is also no need to distinguish traveler wires with the v2, so if the travelers are specifically labeled 1 or 2 on the diagram, it is most likely a v1

Unfortunately online vendors do not always show the "correct" instructions for the product they are selling. I bought one HS230 V2 product from a legitimate reseller here and it was advertised as V2 and the diagram was V2 but the product was V1. No apologies etc just return it and we will refund your money. Plus the 20 minte drive both ways.

Did it say it was v2 in the description?
I've ordered a kit a few days ago and another one yesterday because it was 24% off.
It says v2 in the description. It better be.

@FauxPalindrome No it had no V2 in the description. I didn't even know there was a V2 until seeing this forum. Amazon now shows the V2 as an option but its $47 bucks so about 12 dollars more. Mine works fine so not sure I need to exchange it but I wish I had known or seen that ahead of time.

circle @Carl
I do believe the double tap feature was ever available on the 3 way dimmer? I have both versions and its not available on either. It is however available on the single dimmer. Also another improvement is the status circle led on the remote switch on version 2 now turns on and off , on version 1 it is always on. Can you check with the programmers if version 1 can have a firmware update to allow light status update ? Its nice to be able to know the light status in cases were you cant see the light without opening a door.
Another huge improvement would be the use of a double tap to activate a scene.

Unfortunately, due to the initial concerns with Version 1 when the product first launched the toggle for the status (night light essentially) on the satellite unit was disabled. These concerns were addressed in the hardware of version 2 allowing us to return the feature in a proper working order. The double Tap feature that was originally a highlighted feature and one of the concerns addressed in the first version is also missing from the V2. We have not been told if it was a hardware limitation or simply a abandoned feature but it is not something they plan on adding.

@TimOC01 - I had this same exact question and I need a few of these TP-Link Dimmers wired in 4-way dimmer configurations for the foyer chandelier and upstairs hallway lights.
Hopefully TP-Link can post an update on this and make a 4-way Kit available with one main switch and two satellite switches (as part of a 4-way dimmer kit).
