Model: Deco X20
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.3 Build 20220112 Rel. 55306

Hi There,

I found another strange behavior on the TP Link DECO X20.

My setup is:

WAN modem (Bridge Mode)

TP Link DECO (Router Mode)

LAN Switch connected to port 2 of DECO X20.

Network

LAN 192.168.2.0/24 Gateway 192.168.2.254

I can run a ping command to the X20 that is configured on address 192.168.2.254, but when I switch off my WAN modem (or unplug cable from port 1), the wired client can't reach the X20 anymore.

Issue occurs both static and DHCP.

Without WAN connection, LAN DHCP doesn't work, Wireless DHCP does work.

Why is this an issue for me:

I'm running home automation software on a wired client, without internet connection I can't connect with my wireless clients to control my lights etc..

Just like previous issue I posted about a bug with address reservation (fixed with new firmware), this also seems to be a bug.

If any additional information is needed, let me know.

Note I have moderate knowledge about networks.

Thanks.

@Peterdu HI, It has something to do with this WAN/LAN auto-sensing and they have explained here:WAN/LAN auto-sensing

  @Heidi_Alp

Thanks for sharing this post.

This doesn't look promising for a fix (or what they call "a feature") any time soon :-(
