Model: Deco XE5300
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Are the DECO mesh systems (wifi 6E, Triband systems) compatible on the same mesh system, specifically, XE5300 and AXE5400? Also does this system have the capacity to create a specific (2.4g) network for older wifi cameras that will not recognize a multi-band wif network?

Thanks

  @LarryForehand,

Most of this is dependent on your model of Deco, except with the deco compatibility. All of our deco units are meant to work together using the frequencies and capacities that each node has. The features of the network are mostly determined by which unit is the primary router on the network.

Even though a camera is older, it can still often connect to one SSID, as it should negotiate to the 2.4Ghz band automatically. Realistically, we know this isn't always the case and some cameras have trouble.

On our lower-end/older models, we recommend setting up a guest network, as you can set the guest network only to broadcast the 2.4Ghz band. (These devices can act the same as if they are on your main network) With our newer routers and Decos, particularly the Deco XE200, the engineering team added an IoT network for specifically this reason, and more finite control can be had over your Smart Devices networks.
