Model: Archer AX1500
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.4 Build 20230220 Rel. 71494(5553)

Comcast connection is 1000 Mbps.  Cable Modem is NetGear CM1200.  Router is TP-Link Archer AX1500.

Connected directly to cable modem, getting speedtest.com result of >800Mbps/35Mbps.

Connected to Archer AX1500 on LAN ethernet port (wired), getting consistently around 155-163 Mbps.

Ethernet Cable from Cable Modem to AX1500 is Cat 6, also used Cat 8, no difference.

Why would wired connection to router be 1/5 the speed of the wired connection directly to cable modem?

No other connections are in use during testing.

I'll answer my own question. QoS! Once adjusted those QoS settings, got drastically better test results.
