  @Richardj186

Is the other end of your TP-Link 10Gbps port connected to something with a 10Gbps link rate? If it's only 1Gpbs on the other end, the negotiated rate will be 1Gbps, and the fan won't go crazy.

  @turns2stone 2 days on 5 Gbps and 4 days on 10 Gbps; fans are incredibly quiet.

  @Richardj186 what internet speeds are you running? Are you running wired backhaul?

  @kellisj2003 wireless backhaul, Apple devices and various IoT. I don't have any WiFi 6e or 7 devices. WiFi speeds are averaging 750-900 Mbps via WiFi. In the Deco app, when I do the Test Internet Speed, I get speeds averaging 9.22-9.8 Gbps down and same up.

Discussed the fan issue with Qualcomm, who made the Pro 1220 processor which runs the routers. They suggested trying the following:

1.  Unplug the routers for at least 20 minutes till they cool to room temperature.

2.  Place 4 rubber feet on the bottom of the routers so that you have a half-inch to ¾-inch clearance underneath to allow for more cooling airflow underneath and inside (via the fans) the routers.

I forgot to mention I'd already done that with mine as I didn't think there was enough clearance underneath (less than a quarter inch).  Maybe that's the reason my fans aren't running wild?

  @Richardj186 I tested using the top 10gb jack instead of the bottom one for the wired backhaul node in my living room (and 1gb switch connected to the bottom 2.5gb jack). Since switching to the top 10gb, the fans haven't kicked on at all. Strange to see this, but it worked for me!

  @Richardj186

Tried this approach, I was able to get 3/4" clearance via some 9V batteries.

No difference, fans still spin up like crazy using the bottom 10G ethernet port. Only using the top 10G ethernet port will my fans behave like normal.

  @Richardj186 What's even weirder is that A) it can be replicated by others and B) TP-Link has 'ghosted' me regarding any potential trouble-shooting or next steps. They're definitely aware of the issue and have plenty of my logs.

  @turns2stone well hope this helps. Qualcomm thinks the issue is on their end with the Pro 1220 chip, and they're looking into a firmware fix for it. They told me they can replicate it about a third of the time, abd not always with the bottom 10 Gbps port.
