Model: Archer AX20
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: Archer AX20(US)_V4.6_1.1.0 Build 20230725

Can someone explain the differences between the "OTA Firmware Upgrade" feature and the "Auto Firmware Upgrade" feature?

Do both of these features provide a fully automated process for detecting and then installing newly released firmware updates?

For example, according to the below comparison page, the Archer AX20 only has "OTA Firmware Upgrade", while the Archer AX50 has both  "OTA Firmware Upgrade" and "Auto Firmware Upgrade".

OTA (Over The Air) Firmware Upgrade:

Auto Firmware Upgrade:

The actual difference is that the latter gives you the additional option to "Update firmware automatically when new version is available."

Depending on FW version and region Archer AX20 can have them both as well.

  @terziyski Okay.  Thanks.  That makes sense.

However, the screenshots you shared indicates that the "Auto Firmware Upgrade" is included on the Archer AX20, despite the previously linked comparison page (as well as its official specs page) seemingly stating otherwise.  Do you know if "Auto Firmware Upgrade" is indeed supported by the Archer AX20?  (Or perhaps it was supported in v2.0, but is not supported in the latest version (v4.6))?

  @JJso

I can't confirm for other HW versions, but I have AX20 v1 and it has this option implemented.

In the end I have disabled this as a precaution for upgrading with an unstable FW release.
