Model: Archer C4000
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.0.6 Build 20231010 rel.6028(5553)

Recently I encountered the issue of losing Internet connection: the signal light became organe on the router. And I found the model seemed working fine as all the signal lights on it appear normal.

I then pulled off the power cable of the router, waited about a minute and then put it back on. The router reboots, and everthing went back to normal. But it only lasted about 5 minutes. The internet signal light on the router would become organe again and I had the same issue!

I have seen this a couple of times. The only longer solution would be reboot both my modem and router. So my question is what is the problem here? Is it only from router or my modem, or I need to take care of both?

Thanks

PS. My firmware is the latest one.

  @ZhenC

Look at the modem logs to see if anything is logged at the time of the failure. I had this happen a few weeks ago and found out xfinity was working on the line down the street.

  @ArcherC8

Thanks for your reply. Today it happened again at nearly the same time of the day. I tried to check the router log. After rebooting, It only shows the on and off LED log for today (1/7/2024) and the previous ones on 10/10/2023. Nothing in between, even yesterdays' events. I then decided to delete all the log so far. Hopefully, tomorrow if anything happens again, I can catch the related events in the log.

Hi  @ZhenC. I've been having the exact same problem with my Archer C4000. Like you I have not found a permanent solution.

To temporary alleviate the issue, I unplug and replug the network cable connecting the Archer to the modem. The router re-establishes it's connection to the internet when I do this, but it eventually loses it again.

I'll also keep an eye on the logs and see what I find. Keep you posted.

Again (to TP-Link), this only started after I upgraded my Archer C4000 v3.0 to firmware version 1.0.6 Build 20231010 rel.6028(5553). I have already done a factory reset and made sure that the modem itself has no connectivity issues.

I am using Xfinity (aka. Comcast). They figured out it's the old cable that caused all these unstable connections. The technician came and replace with new cable. Problem solved and so far so good.
