Model: Archer AX55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.6 Build 20231130 rel.36135(5553)

Three days ago I switched to Sail Internet.  Prior to that I was on Comcast for internet.

Since the switch to Sail, I have been getitng periodic intermittent temporary internet drops.  I have epxerienced 7 (SEVEN) of these drops myself while sitting at the system.  More may have occurred when I was not at the system that I did not see.

When this happens, the first sign is that any refresh on a browser page shows "Server not found" message.  Shortly thereafter, the red/orange light will show on the router internet connection LED.

After anywhere between 2-10 minutes, the internet connection reestablishes itself and everything is back to working normally.

Log info isn't very helpf as the AX55 apparently only produces very limited log messages.  I dont' understand why.

This is ALL I see when the problem occurs:

In this case (today), theinternet dropped at 13:29 and came back at 13:39

2024-04-19 13:39:45 led-controller[1118]: <6> 288051 Start to run WAN1_ON

2024-04-19 13:29:28 led-controller[1118]: <6> 288051 Start to run LAN_ON

It then dropped again at 13:42 and returned at 13:47.

2024-04-19 13:42:00 led-controller[1118]: <6> 288051 Start to run WAN1_OFF
2024-04-19 13:42:00 led-controller[1118]: <6> 288051 Start to run WAN0_ON
2024-04-19 13:42:00 led-controller[1118]: <6> 288051 Start to run LAN_ON

Since that time, about 1 hour now, there have not been any problems.  There are also ZERO new messages in the log!  Why am I not seeing normal web traffic in the logs such as acks and so forth???

It looks like these 3 messages cause the internet drop.  WHY?

@Jojo99 It would be helpful to get some support on this problem!

I am having regular internet outages since moving to internet provider Sail Internet.  It looks to me like the outages are ALWAYS represented in the log with the following SIX entries.  The lower 3 entries  represent when I lose internet.  The upper 3 entries represent when it comes back.

2024-04-20 10:58:26 Led Controller INFO [1118] Start to run WAN1_ON

2024-04-20 10:58:26 Led Controller INFO [1118] Start to run WAN0_OFF

2024-04-20 10:58:26 Led Controller INFO [1118] Start to run LAN_ON

2024-04-20 10:46:39 Led Controller INFO [1118] Start to run WAN1_OFF

2024-04-20 10:46:39 Led Controller INFO [1118] Start to run WAN0_ON

2024-04-20 10:46:39 Led Controller INFO [1118] Start to run LAN_ON

The above entries are the only entries in the TPLing log page that I have to work with.  WHY aren't there any other log entries???  Is this some limitation with this model of TPLink router?  I NEED more log data to provide to the internet provider!

I also notice that when the internet drops and shows the above 3 message along with an orange light on the router, any attempt to open a new URL or refresh an open browser tab will show a "Server not found" message.

BUT my TV generally continues to work, which is unusual because the TV signal is also over the internet and comes from a plugged in Ethernet cable out of the router.  Is the TV signal less sensitive to an internet interruption than the browsers on my desktop computer?

  @Jojo99

I would first connect a pc direct to the modem/gateway to see if you still have the issue.

If not, if the isp supplied the modem/gateway, be sure it is in bridge mode.

Be sure you use the correct power adapters for the modem and router as that has caused isues for some. Plugs may be the same but the output can be different.

Try different cables.

Re:Intermittent loss of internet connection

  @Jojo99 - I believe I have solved the problem.

It has something to do with how the internet provider renews leases and uses DNS.

I periodcally see the following sequence in the router log:

2024-04-30 07:58:43 DHCPC INFO [18607] receive ack from server with ip 208.95.234.231, options(subnet=255.255.255.192;router=208.95.234.193;dns=8.8.8.8 149.112.112.112;lease=28800;serverid=147.92.88.115;cliid=01/d0:50:99:5d:e1:c4:;)

2024-04-30 07:58:43 DHCPC INFO [18607] send select request with options(cliid=01/d0:50:99:5d:e1:c4:;)

2024-04-30 07:58:43 DHCPC INFO [18607] 1/2 lease passed, enter renewing state

Apparently they use Google's 8.8.8.8. DNS server.  I was using Quad9 (9.9.9.9).

Removing Quad9 and allowing the provider to get the DNS dynamically from the ISP eliminated the problem.

Apparently, using Quad9 caused some sort of conflict that caused me to lose the internet connection regularly throughout the day.
