Model: Archer A8
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

My router: tp-link Archer A8 (US) Ver 2.20,

For several evenings in a row, my wifi network seems to disappear.

Here's the typical series of events:

  • I'm cruising the web on my desktop which is conneced via the LAN 1 port.  That's a pass through ethernet connection to the web.
  • I put the desktop in sleep mode, or power it down.
  • I go to bed and use my laptop which uses wifi, and discover that there is no connection to wifi.!!  Same with phone (s).!!!
  • I power cycle the router, and after a few minutes, the wireless network is available.

I rarely have problems with the wifi connections  during the day .  I have several devices that use wifi.  All connect.

The problem occurs only at night.  I usually experience of the problem around 11 pm at night.

I have already reset the router to factory settings.

It has been happening more frequently over the last couple weeks, and when I go to bed to read, I'd like to stay in bed rather than get up to reboot the router.

Am I the only person with such a problem?

  @shhganzo

There's no logical explanation of such behavior except wireless schedule feature configured:

If that's not the case make sure you're with the latest FW release (currently Archer A8(US)_V2.20_1.13.2 Build 230824) - here. Test again.

There's a beta FW v1.13.7 for your router model, which addresses some issues with FW v1.13.2 if you're willing to try it - details.

If the issue persists contact your local support for further support.

  @terziyski

Thanks for responding.

I did not have a schedule enabled.  I checked earlier and before I posted today I created  a downtime for 3am - 4am on Sundays.  Before today there was no downtimes scheduled.  Furthermore, I haven't enabled the schedule I entered today, although it should be innocuous.

I also have no logical explanation for the behaviors I described.    But I haven't played around with this router enough to know potential glitches.

The system time is set correctly.

In System-Firmware Update, I clicked on {Check for Updates} and it responded --- Firmware is up to date.

I'll wait for any other ideas before contacting the Hotline support ... Thanks
