I had a mesh network with 03 Deco M5 using TP Link HomeCare.
I´ve bougth 02 Deco X50 to to speed up my network, and I set up of of the X50 as the primary one.
I lose HomeCare and now have to use HomeShield which disabled a number of features and wants us to pay to get them back.
Im very disappointed to be forced to pay a R$ 399,00 a year purchase to get features back that our system had.
Is it possible to continue using TP Link HomeCare instead of TP Link HomeShield?
I´m satisfied with HomeCare features, and I don´t need the new features of TP Link HomeShield?

Does anyone know if I can enable HomeCare on the whole network but keeping the DecoX50 as the primary one, or the only way to do it is to configure back one of the M5 as the primary one? In this case I´ll loose all the purpose of my investment..

You have two options to achieve the desired outcome. Please be aware that Option 1 may occasionally lead to issues; if you encounter any difficulties with it, I recommend trying Option 2.

**Option #1**: For guidance, please refer to the following link: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2400/.

**Option #2**:

1. Reset all of your Deco units by pressing the reset button on the bottom of each unit.

2. Using the Deco app, set up one of your Deco M5 units as the main unit. Since you have factory reset each unit, you will be able to use the same network SSID and password as before.

3. Once the Deco M5 is operational, return to the app and add the remaining Decos to your network.

Need help with the Deco app, setup, Ethernet backhaul, network switch or rolling back firmware? https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/699816?page=1

Hello @HelpFixDecoApp

Both option are to set up again one of my Deco M5 as the primary one, correct?
It will allow me to enable HomeCAre again in my Wifi network, and use the new X50s as new point of connections.
The problem is, I´ll not have all the capacity of the X50s I´ve planned to the main place of my network (my office), where I have the external point of connection of my telecom provider, and I´ll be limited to the troughput between the X50s and the primary M5.
My main goal with this post was to know if I can enable HomeCare using a X50 as the primary one.

Thank you very much for your answar, and let´s see if we have other contributions/ideas.

@David-TP, can you help me?

Both options I presented would designate one of your Deco M5 units as the primary device, allowing you to regain Homecare functionality; however, you would lose some features available with the X50.

I believe, and David, please feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken, that the only way to enable HomeCare functionality on your X50 is for TP-Link to include it as an option on the device.

I conducted some research and discovered that only 17 TP-Link router/Deco models support HomeCare, whereas nearly 50 TP-Link router/Deco models are compatible with HomeShield.

Based on these findings, it seems unlikely that we will see HomeCare support in any new TP-Link router or Deco models.
