Firmware Version: 1.2.11

My Deco XE75 Pro serves as my home network router and I recently connected a Synology NAS to the network. The NAS acts as a VPN client to connect to another remote Synology NAS running an OpenVPN server. I made sure to open 1194 for the local NAS and was able to establish the VPN connection.

However, I would also like to be able to access the local NAS and other local network devices when I'm not home.

I thought I could use the Deco as an OpenVPN server, but I have two questions: 1194 is already being forwarded to the local NAS. Do I need to adjust port forwarding rules?

Also, I think I need a static route to be able to connect to local devices using the OpenVPN connection when I am not home. Is this correct?

I am a bit concerned that my first attempts to connect to the Deco OpenVPN server seemed to disconnected the NAS client from its VPN connection.

Is there any reason I can't get both to work: local NAS as OpenVPN client and then Deco as OpenVPN server so I can connect to local devices when not home?

Thanks!
