Axe300 / AXE16000 Firmware Upgrade Issues

Just noticed this after over a year they finally released something.
Has anyone who installed it had any issues? Wifi Drop out? anything to report?

@AXE16000_A I'll be installing it tonight and let you know how it does.
Have you had any issues?

@AXE16000_A updated with no issues during or after the update.
One crazy thing. I'm getting better speeds with this router than I got with anyone's WiFi 7 router.
Can anyone figure that out?

@Richardj186 Both, only upgrade after downloading the FW and uploading it locally for an upgrade. Make sure you do a backup before and after the upgrade in case you need to downgrade.
In terms of speed, a lot of factors are at play, it is pure speculation until there is more data to look at to give you an answer. Enjoy the faster speeds and don't look back, 7 is not mature enough yet and isn't much of a game changer over 6E

My firmware is for v1.0 of hardware, however as per tp-link docs, those updates in firmware are supposed to solve same problem.
In my case, my version is 1.0.11 Build 20241115
I noticed a considerable drop (half the speed) in wifi download speed at the side of the router (no obstacles). Curiously upload speed remains normal. I have tried already many different approaches to try to make it work normal, like disabling QoS, SIP ALG or UPnP, but nothing makes any difference.
Additionally wifi signal (6G) is optimal (as per muy understand) from my mac m2 mesurements (RSSI -42 dBm, Noise -92 dBM, Tx. Rate 2401 Mbps).
Wired connected, download / upload speeds remains normal. Problem only happens in the wifi connection and also only for download.
Anyone faced the same? recommend downgrade firmware?
Update:
I have 1Gbps of simetric fiber hired with my ISP.
After further investigation to try to solve this problem, I saw the issue was not exactly about version as mentioned before, but something that might have changed about my router or how it works when a client VPN is configured with NordVPN in the openVpn protocol.
However, with or without the client VPN in the router my wireless internet is below half the speed I should have for download.
Upload from wifi goes normal and a little below wired connection, so the only problem is during downloads.
For wired connection everything seems normal and I use the 10Gbps WAN/LAN RJ45 from my ISP moden.
So, I suspect there might be something wrong about my router because if I config NordVPN directly in my Mac m2, I have the normal speed expected for wireless download / upload, independently if the client VPN is enabled or not in my router.
I have done already factory reset, disabled configs as mentioned initially, re-booted router after changes. Nothing seems to work, except having the NordVPN configured directly in every device where that is possible.

Try a completely different client, Windows machine or even your cell phone. If the download speeds are consistently half with other devices without any VPN client you may be on to something. Are you seeing this across all bands or just specific ones? Too many variables but you are already on the right path to isolating the issue.
I once had a Netgear router which would not allow clients to TX/RX on 2.4Ghz even after connecting to the router. Sh@t happens, its is electronics but in your case you have some easy options to isolate if it is the router or your end client and perform a facotry reset and even roll back a FW and retest. Rarely but it does happen a FW cause permenant damage to the HW ASICS.

Thanks for the reply. I agree there are too many variables.
I have tried many different approaches and devices.
Same problem is reproducible even with different bands, searched everywhere but nothing solved.
It could be a HW problem, but why when using the VPN in my computer I have a normal speed? It could be local interference, but even at the side of the router I have same results, so something weird.
Yes, I also had a Netgear some years ago. Suddenly wifi stopped working after warranty expired. Then an AirPort Extreme, which I only stopped using because there was no more updates from apple. Then this one with this weird issue.

VPN can do some interesting things to the OSI layers.
Just to confirm, when you tested this on your cell phone or a tablet you get the same results? What devices did you test specifically?
What application are you using to validate bandwidth on your device (3rd party phone app or native status info)?
Are you using Android or Apple?

Apologies I didn't provide some details before.
In the router I can only use openVpn protocol with my NordVPN credentials. There is an app for NordVPN that can be used in multiple devices. I believe that app uses IPSec protocol for faster internet.
I should have 1Gbps of fiber from my ISP as per contract where ISP says sometimes the minimum speed I should get, should be around 70%
At the side of the router and from my macbook pro m2 max connected to the 6G band and using NordVPN app:
- I get sometimes over 1Gbps internet speed with fast.com for download and around 750Mbps upload.
- From my ISP speed test, I get closer to 1Gbps download and upload.
- My laptop metrics shows RSSI -44 dBm, Noise -91 dBm and Tx Rate 2041 Mbps.
Same laptop and disconnected from NordVPN app
- I get 410Mbps download and close to 1Gbps for upload in fast.com
- From my ISP speed test, I get 240Mbps download and close to 1Gbps upload
- laptop metrics are the same
With my iPhone 13 pro connected to the 5G band at the side of the router and using NordVpn app:
- I get around 710Mbps download and 270Mbps upload in fast.com
- From my ISP speed test, I get 564Mbps download and 426Mbps upload
Same iPhone connected to the 5G band, at the side of the router and disconnected from NordVpn app:
- I get around 380 Mbps download and 690Mbps upload in fast.com
- From my ISP speed test, I get 195Mbps download and 588Mbps upload
I also have an intel lenovo laptop with windows 11 from my work where I get similar results when connected to the 6G band at the side of the router
