Hi all,


I have just seen this as part of a firmware upgrade, albeit a beta version, for the BE9300. For privacy reasons, I have not enabled it.

 

Does anyone know:

  1. What specific data is shared with third-party services when this feature is enabled?
  2. Who are the third-party services involved (e.g., Fing), and what is their role?
  3. Does enabling this feature affect my router’s performance or functionality?

It appears that is used to help identify the devices by sending the MAC of your devices out on the web and get back info on the device. 
 

I do not think you would see any impact on your speed. I also think that some devices will be incorrect as some devices like Apple has options that modify the MAC address to prevent tracking unless turned off.

 

I would not use that function on my router as I do not like sending info of my network out over the internet to some third party.
