I went to download a firmware update and it asked me what hardware version I have in the label on the bottom of the router is worn off so I can't read it needs another

  @justindk log into the routers admin page, it shows the hardware version there.

Using Tether phone app or Deco phone app should have a SYSTEM tab on left and under that have either an UPDATE or Firmware tab. One item wouild be UPDATE and it will find if you have/need one and can be installed with that.
