Model: TL-PA7010P KIT
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi,

I have been using a PA-7010P kit for some time and wanted more throughput so I purchased a PF-9020P kit and obtained the desired results but I still have questions:

1.  The "binding" process with the PA-9020 using the pushbuttons on the side of the devices does not work.  In fact, it disconnects the network over the power line and I have to unplug and replug the units to get the network back up an operational.  I press the link button on one of the units for the required one second and nothing happens to the power light.  What does happen is the middle "Powerline" LED turns off.  Pressing the link button on the 2nd unit does nothing as well.  I have updated to the latest firmware and show good connectivity but I can't bind the two devices securely.

2.  In the tpPLC utility, what's the purpose of the "Secure" radio button on the left side of the application's screen?

3.  Can I use the old PA-7010P in conjuction with the new PA-9020 on the same A/C power line circuit?

Thanks much and I hope to hear from you!

Hello@Wholly_Cow ,

Welcome to our community.

We generally recommend that you use the same series, such as 7 series or 9 series.
Of course, if you have already purchased 9 series, you can try to form a network.
Before networking, it is recommended that you hard reset all devices:

How to Reset the Powerline Adapter to Factory Default

Then try to set up the network.

Hello@Joseph-TP

Thank you for the reply.  I have my network set up with two series 9 and one series 7 devices, all at HW rev. 4.6, and they seem to work well together so I think I am one of the lucky ones who got it to work.

I would have preferred three series 9 devices but TP-Link does not sell a single series 9 device but I would need another complete kit.  Maybe in the future................
