Service Agreement?

Model: Deco S4
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

I just tried to access my Deco S4 router and found that it's IP address had changed and I was unable to connect.  When I used the online chat, I was forwarded to a guy in Punjab who said he was from Technod Corp.  They would be happy to help me but first I had to buy a service agreement for USD100/yr.

I never changed the IP address and feel like this was done by TP-link just to force me into a service contract.  I would much rather just purchase a mesh router system from Netgear rather than put up with this crap.

Are there any alternatives?

How did you find the online chat you used?  Do you have the URL for the website it was running on?  To start, TP-Link does not have a support center based in India. Nor do we employ 3rd party companies for technical support.  A clear indicator you are not speaking to Official TP-Link support is if they try to charge you or offer a "service package."  TP-Link Support has always been and continues to be provided to our customers at no cost.  Additionally, Deco can only be managed via the Deco App.  If you gave access to your Deco account by supplying the email and password, we would strongly suggest you change that password and enable 2FA.

The website was https://tplnkdecomesh.com/. I did figure out that it was a sham/scam and just hung up. I was able to resolve my problem with a reset.
