You would think this would be an easy thing to answer, but I'm completely confused about it. TP-Link has several different routers with "BE9700" in the name, and yet there is no BE9700 in the "Model" dropdown in this forum.

This is the one I am talking about: https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/wifi-router/archer-be9700/ It says it's EasyMesh compatible in the specs. The user manual which I just downloaded describes how to set up a mesh by wiring the main router to the satellite.

When I go to this page (https://www.tp-link.com/us/easymesh/product-list/#wi-fi-routers), it's not listed under any of the backhaul connection filters. If I go to the recommended forum thread for ethernet backhaul (https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/593722), I don't find it mentioned at all.

I hope you can see why I'm confused. Should I trust the user manual? I don't want to take a chance on buying a mesh router that does not support wired backhaul. (It's OK. I have a tin-foil hat to protect me from the extra radio waves. I just like wires. :-))

I took a chance and just went ahead with buying the Archer BE9700. It does connect over ethernet to EasyMesh satellites Archer AX21 and Archer BE230.

@WJCarpenter It is unclear going through the firmwares' release notes whether Ethernet Backhaul is supported.  Some firmware explicitly say so...

I would assume it should work given the first way to add an EasyMesh node is with Ethernet cable, but assuming is assuming...

 Hi @WJCarpenter

Welcome to the community.

Are you thinking of setting up the Archer BE9700 via EasyMesh Ethernet Backhaul with another Archer BE9700? If so, I'd recommend checking out our FAQ: How to Build an Ethernet Backhaul Using Two EasyMesh Routers

How do you plan to deploy and use EasyMesh in your home network?

@Ryan That article you mentioned was nice. I didn't know about the step of using the satellite LAN port for discovery. It worked for me using the WAN port for both of my satellites, but I guess there are some models or firmware revisions that might need the use of a LAN port.
