Model: Deco BE25-Outdoor
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I'm using a TrendNet 2.5 G TEG S350 unmanaged switch.  I was led to believe the WM9000 Outdoor Deco unit could be powered by ethernet only.  I've run Cat6 from the post outside my office (there's an AP in the office, works fine; part of the AX3000 3-unit kit) to my switch and connected the outdoor unit to it.  No power.  Google AI says this unit must be powered by 12v adapter.  Huh?  I don't get it.  But I don't get a lot of things.  Do I need a different switch; do I need power and PoE??  Please help.  Thanks in advance.

Hey  @Ricardo603 - Thanks for stopping by!

The outdoor deco can be given both data and power via one ethernet cable and you are on the right track, just missing one key piece - a method of providing PoE power, whether a PoE switch, or PoE Injector. Unfortunately, I do not see PoE functionality on the overview page of your current switch.

This is the 5 Port PoE Switch that our team members use for their Deco X50-Indoor: TL-SG1005P | 5-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch with 4-Port PoE+ | TP-Link

If you only have the one PoE device, you can use a PoE Injector - which essentially is Ethernet and Power in, with only PoE Ethernet out. This is likely the 12V adapter that Google was referencing. We have quite a few ourselves and there are plenty on the market, but take this one as an example

TL-PI30G | PoE+ Injector | TP-Link
