Just setup the three x55 mesh network. Everything wireless is fine. I have one of the two remote X55s wired to the main downstairs. Deco sees that as connected.  I plugged my desktop computer another port on that Deco and it connects to the internet also, but the speed is terrible!!  I use to get almost a full Gb from the desktop Up and Down, now I'm getting 92 to 95Mb Up and Down!!  Looking at my desktop it now only shows a 100Mbps connection!!   Are the ports on the X55 only 100Mbps ports??  Are they configurable so I can set this desktop port to 1Gbps??

Welcome to the community!

 

Each Deco X55 node is equipped with 3× Gigabit ports to provide ample connectivity.

 

The first thing I would suspect is the Ethernet cable. Make sure it's CAT5e or higher to support full Gigabit speeds.

 

If you're using CAT5e or higher and still capped at 100Mbps, I'd suggest swapping the Ethernet cable and re-testing the connection.

  @Ryan thanks for replying!!  I tried a third cable and this one now connects my desktop at 1Gb.  I am tossing out a few cables!!!  All good now. The basic problems drive me crazy cause I have never seen two cables in a row do this!!

Glad you got it sorted! Two in a row is definitely some unfortunate luck — but at least now you know which cables you no longer need.

 

That reminds me - it's been a while since I've audited my various stockpiles of Ethernet cables and sorted (tossed) out sub-Gigabit variants.

 

Well... there's no chance of un-planting that idea from my head now. Guess I'm adding that to my to-do list this weekend! 😆
