Teather can't find my router

I have an internet connection, but I can't get Teather to find my router. I have tried manual with the barcode and it still can't find it.

TP-Link routers will only show up in the Tether app in 2 conditions.

1. You are connected to the router's Wi-Fi

2. Your router is linked to your TP-Link ID (cloud account) and is online.

outside of these two instances you will not see the router in the tether app.
