Since this is a "travel router," it should be easy to switch from one hotel network to another, then to another, etc. The documentation only states for Hotspot Mode (i.e. the reason I bought a travel router): "Wireless: Connect your device to the router's Wi-Fi ..." That is inadequate documentation. This is especially true since I created my own SSIDs for the router. I eventually got the router to work with a second network, but I am uncertain how to do it again. When I later tried to use the router with my home wifi, again I was able to do it successfully, but I am uncertain how to do it the best way. The good news is that the wr3602be remembered my home router wifi password so it appears that the wr3602be has a table of known SSIDs/passwords. Please verify this.

Please provide more detailed/elaborate documentation regarding connecting to a new wifi network (i.e., a new hotel) and later reconnecting to my home network and/or visiting a previously connected hotel at a later time.

@phma01 The following worked on a network not requiring a password. I will update this when I have an opportunity to test at a hotel requiring a passord or similar (e.g., Name & room number).

Generic instructions to connect TP-Link Travel Router to WI-FI in hotels, etc.

  • Power on router: Wait until LEDs turn solid Blue or solid Red
  • Turn off laptop wireless connection
  • Plug ethernet cable between laptop and router LAN port
  • Launch a browser and connect to one of (replace the dot with a period “.”): http:// followed by

     192 dot 168 dot 01 dot 1

OR (may work better) tplinkwifi dot net

  • Login to the Router using whatever password you use
  • Click on INTERNET
  • Click on HOTSPOT
  • Click on/Select HOST WI-FI
  • Follow the instructions provided by the local network as I don’t know how this will work at a hotel or anyplace with it’s own access interface beyond WI-FI password.
  • After connecting, the router will reboot and the light will turn BLUE

  • You can now disconnect the cable from the laptop to the router.
  • You can turn on your laptop's wifi and connect to the TP-Link Travel Router network called <whatever you named your router’s SSID>. Other devices (e.g., phones) can connect to your TP-Link Travel Router network.
  • If you set up a password for your TP-Link Travel Router network, you may need it; probably only the first time connecting the device (laptop, phone, other) as the device will probably remember your TP-Link Travel Router network name/password.

Re:Travel Router wr3602be -- need improved "Hotspot Mode" documentation

@phma01 I'm sorry that the documentation is unclear.  Home networks typically have an SSID and password/passkey.  Hotels can be different.  Some you enter SSID and passkey directly (like at home), some you enter the SSID but then it leads you to a login page.  For those you need to select WISP mode on your travel router.  Not having this specific model I can't really do a step by step, but that is the gist of the difference between travel router and traditional router...
