Model: Archer AX55
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.1.2 Build 20241014 rel.59971(5553)

Bought the AX55 to replace an older/slower Archer router.  Everything seems great with the exception of this issue with Samsung TV Plus.  Will be returning the router to Amazon if I don't get this resolved, so hoping someone from TPLink (or the community) has a fix.

To summarize, my Samsung is connected to the Archer, which sits behind my provider modem (ATT gigabit).  Router handles all the LAN assignments and traffic, modem is the gateway.  Setup worked fine before, largely with the same settings, and mostly works fine now.

The ONLY issue is that the router refuses to allow the Samsung TV to load Samsung TV Plus content.  When I select an STVP channel on the TV it will show me the guide, show me the channels, show me whats on, etc, but it will NOT resolve the actual channel/video.  It just shows a black screen.

I know this is an Archer problem because, when tethered to my phone or another hotspot, the TV still works fine, and it worked fine before I switched it over to the AX55.  I have tried EVERY solution provided on every forum to try to resolve this, to no end.  I have:

- Switched the TV between wired and wireless

- Manually managed/changed the DNS servers and IP assignments (thinking maybe a manual IP for the TV on a reserved block would work... no joy).

- Reset/reinstalled the STVP app, and even nuked the entire Smart Hub on the TV.  Again, no joy.

- Rebooted the AX55 and made sure it's updated

- Modified various settings on the AX55

I will say that this problem seemed to happen right around the time I started using the Tether app and linked my TPLink ID with my unit.  It seems insane that that could have anything to do with this, but... I've seen stranger stuff when it comes to how some of these services are configured.

Anyway, hopefully someone knows the final solution to this, because I'm about done giving TPLink anymore of my hours/time for free QA.

Thanks,
Dante

Not sure why the app is not working.

I have several Samsung TVs and do not use that app as no app is required to use the plus channels. I have found that if I use a remote that has the numeric numbers on it it makes it easy to get to the plus channels. I am using an old Samsung remote from a previous TV but  a universal remote works fine also. Only needed to be sure the tv was connected to my wifi and I am able to just enter a plus channel number to get to the plus channel. You can go up snd down channels plus there is a button to get to the apps. Much better than the current remote they supply with the TVs now.

Hey, thanks for the reply.  Not sure I follow... there's no "app".  Samsung TV Plus channels are 1000+ on the Samsung TV.  Whether you navigate from the guide, from the Samsung Tuner, or directly by entering a channel number you are still navigating "to a channel."

My issue is that whenever and however I navigate to the channel I can load it, I can see the guide content and stuff about the channel, but the picture (video) will not resolve and I just see a black screen.  I can even see the audio meter on the guide moving with the active channels audio, which seems to imply that it's loaded and active but the video just wont display.

Part of me wonders if this is Samsung purpusefully deprecating old TVs from the STVP network by blocking the video feed, but that seems a bit to paranoid.

I thought STVP was a separte app you were using. I see now it is Samsung TV Plus.

I just got a another Samsung TV a few weeks ago and all I did was set up my WIFI, connect my outside antenna, and use the old remote with the numbers on it as the remote that came with the TV is not useful for the way we use the TV. Got all the channels including the 1000 plus ones.

Have not had any issues with my old Samsung TV that is over 15 years old. I did replace another one that was 5 years old because of a picture going black. Did not want to fool with it for the cost of a new one.

I would try a reset on the TV. I seen a web site that said to check the date and time plus a few other things.

Can you get to the other apps such as Amazon Prime, Sling, ESPN, ... ?

  1. Cambia el DNS en el AX55:
    • Accede a 192.168.0.1 → Avanzado > Red > LAN y configura DNS manual:
      • Google: 8.8.8.8 y 8.8.4.4
      • o Cloudflare: 1.1.1.1 y 1.0.0.1
  3. Activa UPnP y revisa NAT Boost:
    • Avanzado > Reenvío NAT > UPnP debe estar habilitado.
