Slow speeds
I am testing out this device to use as a travel hotspot. Im able to easily connect to my home network via tether and then connect my phone to the device. However when I check my speed, I see only 25-30 mbps whereas connecting directly to my home network yields nearly 400. What am I doing wrong?

Welcome to the community!
Do you know which of the main network's Wi-Fi bands the TL-WR1502X is connecting to?
Just a theory... but I'm wondering if, when connecting directly to your home network, your devices are using the wider/faster 5 GHz Wi-Fi band, and whether the TL-WR1502X is connecting to the main network over the narrower/slower 2.4 GHz band. If so, devices connecting to the TL-WR1502X would then have their traffic funneled down through the 2.4 GHz band between the TL-WR1502X and the main network.
Also, if you're able to share a bit more information about your setup, such as the firmware version your TL-WR1502X is currently running, and which operating mode (e.g., hotspot router, AP, Range Extender, etc.), we'll be better equipped to help.

@Tomnm2 Both 2.4 and 5 gave me the same readings but I get your point about which home network the device is connected to. iI's a Deco mesh system that incorporates both 2.4 and 5 in a single login point. However with other devices I've never noticed a huge difference in speed between the two.
I just updated the firmware to the latest version and then did a full reset of the device. When in doubt, start over. The update also seemed to want me to start fresh. I now see higher speeds when I connect via 5, but the same ~30 level for 2.4. 30 vs about 150. I've never seen that kind of difference before.
