Model: Deco XE75 Pro
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.14 Build 20241223 Rel. 16551

I installed 3 XE75 Pro units a couple weeks ago and from the start I have not been able to connect to Netflix on my two Vizio TVs. All my other devices are able to connect and stream Netflix without issues. Apple TVs, Phones, Tablets, etc have no issues.

I have Midco Internet 1 Gig and an ARRIS Model: DG3450 router.

I first had the Arris in router mode with the wifi channels set to off. This is how I had it previously with my Google Mesh and everything worked fine. One XE75 is connected to the Arris via CAT 6 and by default was setup as a router. Once I realized I was having issue with Netflix on the Vizios I did some troubleshooting and saw many posts about users having the same issue. That led to me trying a handful of different settings.

One of the VIzio TVs is v505-g9 and the other is a few years newer than that one.

  • I changed the XE75 to AP mode (rebooted everything, modem, XE75s, TV, Netflix)
    • No luck
  • I put the Arris into bridge mode and set the XE75 back to router mode (rebooted everything)
    • No luck
  • I have turn on IPv6
  • I have turned off Mesh Technology for the Vizio
  • I have set the Vizio to prefer the closest XE75
  • I have set the Vizio to prefer 2.4GHz and then 5 GHz

None of that worked.

I ran the built in tests in the Netflix app on the Vizio and some times it even checks all the connection steps as green and passing. Still won't load and gives an error saying it can't connect.

Every other streaming service works on the Vizios and every other device on the network can use Netflix.

I have run out of ideas.

The Vizio tv should have other apps on it yes? Do any of those work?

Need help with the Deco app, setup, Ethernet backhaul, network switch or rolling back firmware? Router or AP mode? https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/699816?page=1

I would make sure parental control isn't blocking Netflix would also check to make sure that the decos and the tv's firmware are up to date

Both TVs and the Decos are up to date on firmware. There is no parental control set up.

I've also reset the Netflix app on the Vizios. I have unplugged them for 10+ minutes. I have told them to forget the network and added it back.

There are way too many threads, posts, conversations online regarding this same issue. I can't believe that tp-link hasn't found a solution for this yet.

I'm real close to putting these back in the box and going with a different brand.

Going to escalate this case to see if we can get an engineer to look at it.

First please access the Deco web UI by entering "tplinkdeco.net" in your browser. Navigate to Advanced > System > System Log, select "ALL" in the log type, and save the file to your local computer. Then follow the steps below making sure to attach the logs to the email.

@tailg8r Is there any error code given by Netflix when it fails to load?  Are you unable to even select the User?  Are you able to get to the video selections and it fails to load a selection?  (Where does it get stuck)?

While you wait for them to respond to your ticket a few other things you can try.

Update DNS settings:
• Make sure your phone is connected to the Deco Wi-Fi.
• Open the Deco app, go to MORE > Internet Connection > tap 'IPv4 Connection' > DNS Address.
• Select 'Manual' and enter '8.8.8.8' as the primary DNS and '1.1.1.1' as the secondary DNS.

Additional settings to check:
• In the Deco app, go to MORE > Advanced > IPTV/VLAN. If the IPTV port is enabled, do not use it to connect to your ISP modem.
• Go to MORE > Advanced > WAN Port. If this feature is enabled, ensure you are using the correct Ethernet port on the Deco to connect to your ISP modem.

  @jzchen

When the Netflix app fails to load there is the ability to run a network check specificly for Netflix. It tries to connect to three Netflix servers and then does a internet/network check. Sometimes one or two of those will fail sometimes they will all pass and it will still say that it can't connect to Netflix. The error code is usually NW-2-5.

  @HelpFixDecoApp

I have also tried to set the DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 and that did not solve the issue.
