Model: Archer AX1500
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hello, I need to add another easymesh extender to my home network (currently have an AX3000 and a RE315), and I'd like to know if an easymesh router, an AX1500 for example, can use its additional LAN ports as a network switch while also operating in easymesh extender. Or is it the case that once a router is set to easymesh extender its other LAN ports are inactive. are there any routers that have this ability to be an easymesh extender with wired backhaul while also functioning as a network switch?

@waltered Since your hardware version is V1, you likely won't be able to use EasyMesh with wired backhaul, as it looks like V1 lacks the firmware support for Satellite Mode. However, you can still achieve what you're looking for by configuring the AX1500 in Access Point Mode instead. By connecting ethernet from your main router to the AX1500's WAN port and switching the Operation Mode to Access Point, the router will use that cable for backhaul and simultaneously turn all the LAN ports into an active network switch. If you set the wifi SSID and password to match your main router exactly, your devices will still roam between the two units seamlessly, giving you the functionality you need without relying on the EasyMesh protocol.

@abermuffin thanks! Are there any other TP Link routers whose firmware supports a sattelite EasyMesh configuration where the LAN ports are enabled?

@waltered Actually can you grab your AX1500 and look either on the back or bottom of it? Does it give you a specific version such as 1.2, 1.6, etc?
