Tapo C100
My camera is offline in my iPhone but working in my iPad. Same connection (same wifi) for both. This happened all of a sudden overnight - it was working for months.

the weird thing is I get notifications that motion is detected on the camera on my iPhone, but it can't connect. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app on my phone, restarting my phone, etc and it just doesn't work.

Please help 🙏

  @alphabetsoup,

Odd, Did your phone happen to update that night?

An app reinstall should fix any behaviors like this, especially if you can confirm the camera is online.

I would recommend trying to connect to your camera through your cellular carrier. The method your phone uses to connect to the camera changes depending on whether or not it is connected to the same wi-fi as your camera. It may be that your phone is having difficulty communicating locally due to some network or privacy setting.

  @Riley_S my phone didn't update..it also wouldn't explain why my phone connected to one camera but not another camera. I tried reinstalling as well but no luck. It was the actual handshake between the camera and my phone that was stale and needed resetting.

what I did to resolve the situation was the following (hopefully it will help someone):

on my iPad:

  1. Open the camera live view
  2. Let it stream for 10–15 seconds
  3. Then close the live view
  4. Immediately try opening it on my iPhone

Sometimes the iPad holding the stream session prevents a second device from negotiating properly (especially after app reinstalls).
