Model: Deco X4300 Pro
Hardware Version: V16
Firmware Version: 1.5.0 Build 20250801 Rel. 55258

Notes: The hardware version on the bottom of my mesh router indicates US/1.6

The firmware version info was obtained from the Arlo app

Question: I am trying to determine if I can manually set (choose) the channel used by my 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks.  In following the currently produced directions to accomplish this, the option to manually choose a channel does NOT appear to be an option for me using the equipment I have.

When I look at network traffic on WiFi Analyzer, there is a lot of congestion on the 2.4 ghz channel choosen by the system (ch 6).  There are some other channels that I consistenly note having far less traffic and I need to move my broadcast of the 2.4ghz network to another channel.

If I cannot choose the channel for my 2.4 ghz network given the current mesh routers I have (I have a set of three mesh routers), it appears in reading the documentation that if I purchased a newer router AND used it as the new router main router AND that new router supported manually setting broadcast channels for the 2.4 ghz and 5ghz networks then the three existing mesh routers I own would support the channel selection I make.

Am I reading the documentation correctly - is this possible?

Just to restate, this would mean my three current mesh routers would be working under a new(er) mesh router.  Will the old routers support whatever channel the newest mesh router tells it to?

Thanks.

According to our knowledge base, I can confirm the following regarding Manual Wi-Fi Channel Selection support:

Models that SUPPORT Manual Wi-Fi Channel Selection:
• Deco BE11000 (V2.6) • Also known as Deco BE63 V2, Deco BE9300 V2
• Deco BE85 (V2 & V2.6)
• Deco BE95 (V1 & V1.6)
• Deco BE68 (V1 & V1.6) • Also known as Deco BE67 V1

Models that DO NOT support Manual Wi-Fi Channel Selection:
• Deco BE65 Pro (V1 & V1.6) • This model does not have manual channel selection capability

So based on our records, the Deco BE65 Pro is NOT included in the list of models supporting manual channel selection. The other models you listed (BE11000/BE63 V2.6, BE85 V2/V2.6, BE95 V1/V1.6, and BE68 V1/V1.6) do support this feature.

If manual channel selection is an important feature for your next mesh router purchase, I'd recommend choosing from the models that support it: BE11000/BE63 V2.6, BE85 V2/V2.6, BE95 V1/V1.6, or BE68/BE67 V1/V1.6.

Based on the information available, you're reading the documentation correctly in principle. Here's what we know:

Compatibility Between Different Deco Models:
All Deco models, including different hardware versions, are compatible and can work together to create a seamless mesh network. We usually recommend using the most powerful Deco model as the main unit.

Manual Channel Selection Feature:
There are several Deco models that support manually selecting WiFi channels. For models that support this feature, you should be able to see the options to select 2.4GHz/5GHz WiFi channels in the Deco APP > MORE > Wi-Fi Settings > Advanced.

Your Scenario:
When you add a newer Deco model that supports manual channel selection as your main unit, your three existing Deco units would work as satellite units in the mesh network. Since all Deco units in a mesh network share the same network configuration controlled by the main unit, your existing units should operate on the channels configured by the new main Deco.

  @HelpFixDecoApp

Thanks for the info.

Can you please confirm the list of routers shown below are the only Deco mesh WiFi routers that currently support manual channel selection?

If this is the case, I'll make my next nesh router purchase from this list.

Thanks!

Deco BE11000 (V2.6)

Deco BE65 Pro (V1 & V1.6)

Deco BE85 (V2 & V2.6)

Deco BE63 (V2.6)

Deco BE95 (V1 & V1.6)

Deco BE68 (V1 & V1.6)
