Model: Archer AX11000
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 2.2.1 Build 20250725 rel.9119(5553)

I have this router for almost 3 years and it has been working very well. All this time I had 100 mbps connection and it was delivering 95-99 mbps.

Recently the ISP offered 1 Gb connection without increasing the price for five years, I upgraded that. They also sent me a modem gateway. With wired connection I am getting 800-900mbps  speeds but with Wi-Fi, I am only getting 500 mbps.

Everything else includingthe equipment, my computer, the location, house, is the same.

I understand that wireless connection is on most never as good as fired Internet connection, but just want to know if there is anything that I can do to improve the Wi-Fi speeds?

Thank you very much in advance.

The first test is to bypass the router snd connect direct to the modem to see what speed you get. Your isp or connection may have issues.

your devices play a roll in the speed they get due to hardware and drivers.

If you have old devices that are "N" speed they can drag down the wifi speed.

2.4 is best for distance and 5 GHz is best for speed. I assign devices to each network by using differennt ssid for each.

Online backups can take a toll on speed including ones to attached to the USB port.

QoS can rob speed.

The DNS you use can affect speed.

Be sure you are up to date on firmware - modem, router, computers, other devices.

May need to test adding one device at a time to the network.

Wifi will not be as fast as ethernet.
